I enjoyed this post. I’m always curious what other people are doing for makeup. Can you explain what tubing mascara is? Second time this week I’ve heard that term.
YES! So tubing mascara is made up of little filaments that coat the lashes rather than the traditional gel / liquid formulas. For some reason that means it doesn’t smudge or smear but it DOES wash off super easily in little clumps when you go to take your makeup off. Until I discovered tubing mascara I was either looking like a raccoon with normal mascara or scrubbing until my eyelashes came out to get waterproof off. Tubing has been the best of both worlds for me!
Oh, one last question- is the tubing mechanism similar to those mascaras that have two wands where one deposits white extension stuff and the other is the color?
Ahh yes I think it is similar! In fact, the L’Oreal tubing mascara I tried did come in that format. But I didn’t like the white stuff and other brands seem to forgo it with still great look and results!
That’s funny because I recently bought the L’Oréal one with the white stuff and I feel like the color doesn’t go on the white extensions very well. It looks a bit strange up close.
Yes, I always felt that I didn’t cover the white properly so that one wasn’t my favourite. Not sure about access where you’re located, but the Milani and Essence ones are also supposed to be good. I’m using Milani and it’s just fine, decent price. More expensive ones I plan on trying are Merit and Glossier.

I think my local store (in NY) has Milani. Thanks for the recommendations!
Ooh, thank you for explaining! Would tubing mascara help a gal like me with sparse and very blonde eyelashes have more VAVOOM? Lol
I think so! A few of them are marketed as “extensions in a bottle” and they definitely add volume!
Thanks for educating me! 👀
My pleasure!!
