TL;DR (Just kidding, please still read, but also here’s the reason I’m writing to you today): I am re-releasing last year’s summer zine as I never got the time to properly promote it last year. Download it below, and then read on…
Around this time last year, all hell broke loose in our lives.
I’m being slightly dramatic.
What actually happened was that just as a hectic school year finished and I was ready to dive into my summer projects, we abruptly realized we needed to move away from a bad landlord. We went on a quest to find our next forever home, packed up our entire laneway house, and endured the most stressful move of my life, which is saying a lot considering how many times I’ve moved house in my 37 years. (This whole proecess all documented in this post if you’re curious.)
It’s only just now as another school year winds down that I’ve found myself with the time and capacity to reflect on those postponed summer ideas and think about which ones need to be revived.
Some of them, like rebranding and finally using my own name in my business, came to fruition in their own way in the last year.
The same is true of my not-so-secret-anymore desire to expand my shop to include preloved contemporary and vintage clothing, which I now love to curate more than any other pieces in the shop.
Other plans have evolved, like my plan to personalize our rented home. I’ve been chipping away at decorating our new townhouse since we moved in, and while this kind of project is never done, it definitely has taken shape and feels a lot more like us.
Some of these summer projects are still languishing in my imagination. My desire to write more content, to share more about a beautiful collected lifestyle and not just the beautiful things I collect and share with you.
So now, as the warmest days of the year begin, with the time and space to write and record and create, I will return to that plan. If you read these newsletters regularly, you will hopefully have seen this post last week where I’ve compared my online world to a summer dinner party.
Finally, in reviving my old drafts and returning to dormant folders in my laptop, I noticed that right as chaos descended upon our household last summer, I had released what was first to be the first of a series of seasonal mini-magazines, or zines.
Reading it over, my tastes and the joys I soak up in the summer are still , so here I am re-releasing it to you for a summer pick-me-up. For the encouragement you might need to slow down and enjoy your summer. It includes a cocktail recipe, a playlist, a new way to enjoy a coffee, and a whole host of good summer vibes. I hope to bring you more mini-publications like this throughout the year.
Enjoy!
