The second article in my shopping series is all about beauty finds I’ve stumbled upon or discovered at the bottom of a rabbit hole lately.
Below you’ll find shoppable links to brand new and resold items below, as well as search terms if you’re looking for an alternative in your area.
As I’m based just outside Vancouver, Canada, all the products I write about will be easily accessible for us Canadian shoppers. And, FYI, the Amazon links in this post are affiliates which means I earn literal pennies if you click and buy.
Enjoy!

Salty Face Basic Tanning Kit. A friend in Australia recently told me that both she and our mutual friend are loving the face tanning water from this Vancouver-based brand. After reflecting on the ill-Victorian-lady-esque paleness of my face in a recent photograph, I decided to try it myself. It gives just enough glow to look healthy but still natural. I spray 2-3 times on the brush (I ordered the kit but any kabuki brush would do), and blend into my face after moisturizer, and repeat every 2-3 days.

L’Oreal Paris Double Extend Tubing Mascara. This product has been SUCH a game-changer for me. Since using squalane in my skincare and makeup—an oil-based product that wreaked havoc on my eye makeup—I have been a chronic victim of raccoon eyes. Tubing mascara is formulated differently and doesn’t budge until I ask it to at the end of the day. Believe me, I tried so many mascaras including the most cement-like waterproofs and this one is the winner. This two-step formula includes a primer/conditioner on one end and the actual mascara on the other. It comes off in little chunks when I wash my face and otherwise has helped me look so much less bedraggled by the end of the day.

Gisou Hair Perfume. My healthy-heat-styled hair routine means I don’t wash my hair as often as I used to. I aim for once a week and if I can, I’ll stretch it even longer with the assistance of dry shampoo, dry conditioner, and a glycolic scalp treatment. Between washes, I’m also reaching for this hair perfume to add that freshly-washed scent to my less-than-fresh hair. It’s floral but not cloying and I honestly would wear it as a body spray I love it so much. I also have the viral Cheirosa 62, but find this one much more subtle and elevated.

Saie Slip Tint Dewy Tinted Moisturizer. After a lengthy experimentation process, I came to the conclusion I am a skin tint girly and prefer a dewy light-coverage finish over a more concealing foundation. The Saie Slip Tint is definitely up there in my list of favourites. Dewy but not shimmery, it sits light on the skin and comes in a 14-shade range. (I’m wearing three and a half.) You can watch my foundation/skin tint/tinted moisturizer learnings here on TikTok.

Byoma Balancing Face Mist. Face mists seems to be one of those viral products that everyone is suddenly using. As I’ve started using retinol on my skin, I’m conscious of staying hydrated and applying the harsher serum in a “moisture sandwich” as the experts recommend. I used my Optimum points to try this one out, and it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and just a little dewy. I spray on before makeup in the morning and before all other skincare in the evening after washing my face. I’m also a sucker for cute branding, and I love this fun orange bottle.

Glossier You Eau de Perfume Rollerball. Described as spicy, salty, musky, this fragrance is right up my alley. But mostly I was curious about trying it out because it’s described as having an element that smells a little different on everyone, making it “soft, warm, and familiar.” My scientist husband went down a nerdy rabbit hole reading about this, and apparently it checks out! (Sorry, I mentally zoned out when he explained how this unique-to-you fragrance works, but it has something to do with being made up of mostly base notes and something called ambroxan.) Regardless, I am obsessed and reach for this one almost every day.

e.l.f Glow Revival Lip Oil. I am a major sucker for a lip oil (spoiler alert, they’re lip glosses with a variety of featured oil ingredients). From the cheap to the expensive, I could truly write a thesis on these products at this point. And though I usually subscribe to the belief that you get what you pay for when it comes to viral products, this $10.99 CAD lip oil is by far my favourite. I wear the shade Jam Session and recently also picked up the rosy shade.

L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Precision Black Eyeliner (Waterproof). Going hand in hand with #2 on this list, this waterproof eyeliner has been essential in keeping my eye makeup in place. It also doesn’t take a lot of man power to scrub off at the end of the day, and I adore the firm little pointed brush which allows for maximum control when putting it on.

Thank you for reading S H O P 〰 a series about some of the things I buy and love. (Please note: Not all nice things are material, but in this post the ones I write about are. Read the first list here.)
