I had grand ideas about posts I could write in the month of December.
I wanted to talk about my favourite coats for the season, reflect on how we can reimagine the holidays in challenging times, and share some aesthetic winter imagery. I had hoped to unpack with you what happened when a TikTok video of mine blew up the other day, and invite you to join the conversation.
But when I actually tried to carve out time to, you know, write, I realized that I’m actually more in need of a break than I realized. Not only that, but I recognized that I feel somewhat overwhelmed with the amount of emails and notifications I’m receiving these days. So I imagine you might be feeling the same way.
With that in mind, instead of posting lots for you to read here right now, I’m jotting down ideas and saving my longer pieces for the new year while I count down to the winter break at school (10 work days and counting!)
In the meantime, here are a few things you can dive into:
Read Autumnal, a fall e-zine. I will be working on the next season’s version over my break, to be released in January.
Check out a few lists I’ve curated in recent months including my fave true crime podcasts, stuff I bought in the fall, and why I think we all should be on TikTok
If you’re new here and you haven’t made yourself comfy at my little Substack party yet, get the full introduction here. I’m thinking of updating this little party to reflect the cozier season.
If you need me, I’ll be starting my annual re-watch of all the Harry Potters, reading the Christmas books my BFF and I picked for our yearly holiday book club, and trying to enjoy the nicer parts of this complicated season.
There’s a chance I’ll pop on again in Chat if I feel inspired, so make sure you’re subscribed.
Finally, if you’re a reader here or you follow me elsewhere, could you let me know what you enjoyed about this space this year?
I tested the waters with Substack TikTok, and Instagram this year, and I’d love to double down on the topics you really love to hear my perspective on. Any feedback is welcome!
Thank you for sharing this! It’s made me feel less alone with feeling overwhelmed recently. I’m so glad to have connected with you this year and loved the Autumn zine! I also love the way you described your Substack party, it makes me feel at home 🤍
